The Pups
Our most accomplished makers in Residence, Koru (Blacksmith) and her daughter Skye (Goldsmith) are also our most noisy pair too. If they’re not visiting studio 2 for biscuits, barking at every person that comes within 10 feet of the Workshop or whimpering in their sleep at chasing rabbits (or maybe being chased by giant rabbits, never quite figured that one out) then they are forging and stone setting on their latest creations. Payment in biscuits is acceptable.
Eve Smith
Eve is a self taught designer maker who works mainly in sterling silver. Eves takes her inspiration from nature and hand pierced feathers and butterflies. Her true passion is making rings where she uses a vast range of semi precious stones in any shape and size. Most of Eves work is one of pieces.
Gillie Welstead
Repeating patterns in the natural environment have always fascinated Gillie: the striking similarities of human skin under an electron microscope and the skeleton of leaves; tidal ripple patterns on sand and the grain of oak wood. The lithe outlines of native species also capture her attention.
Since Her first silversmithing class Gillie has been riveted by the elemental process of transforming a rough piece of metal into a finished, textured shape.
Ettisan Ghuzlan
" Ettisan is an architect, a photographer and a jewellery designer and maker.
In 2017, she decided to step out of the architectural field and to start her own journey as an artist.
With a mind-set of an architect, she tends to challenge herself by exploring new methods and techniques while working with precious metals to achieve unusual ways that could give her the ability to create different designs with different stories. "
Cameron Murdoch of CAM Life Designs
Cameron is a jeweller and precious metal weaver, as well as a concert pianist and a creative resilience recovery coach and designer. Having been a director in Higher Education for nearly 17 years, Cameron decided in 2016 to go back to where his heart lay, in the wonderful world of creativity.
His inspiration comes from nature, human connection, and the traditional weaving and metal work skills found in The Viking Age as well as general Scandinavian and Japanese cultures.
He primarily works with silver, beads, semi-precious stones and silks.
Andrea Manning
Andrea took up silver jewellery making as a hobby when her youngest started nursery. In the years since then, she has been fortunate enough to hone her craft under the guidance of several of Edinburgh’s leading silver jewellers and silversmiths.
Andrea predominantly works in Stirling silver, but often likes to incorporate other materials such as wood, semi previous stones and beads, or enamel for a touch of colour. She also enjoys adding humour or movement to her designs for a bit of fun.
